Fisher Towers
Located about 22 miles northeast of Moab along the Colorado river corridor, the spectacular sandstone monoliths of Fisher Towers Recreation Site are a popular destination for hikers and climbers. The area is named for early settlers and is administered by the Bureau of Land Management. Facilities at the recreation site include picnic tables and fire grills and a small campground suitable for tent camping. The moderate Fisher Tower Trail (4.4 miles, round trip) offers hikers the chance to get a closer look at the towers, including the impressive 900-foot Titan along with spectacular views of the Colorado River and Professor Valley. The towers, spires and pedestals of Fisher Towers offer a spectacular show in the late afternoon when sunlight illuminates the towers turning them brilliant red and orange in constantly changing hues as the sun sets. |
