The Friends of the La Sal Avalanche Center
The Friends of the La Sal Avalanche Center

Since 1988 the La Sal Avalanche Center, in partnership with Grand County, has been on the scene providing Moab residents and visitors with avalanche and weather forecasts, as well as avalanche classes and educational seminars: information that not only can make your trip better, it can save your life.

Since 1993 volunteers for the Friends of the La Sal Avalanche Center, have assisted the Center financially, with labor, and with community efforts to gain public support for continuation of the Center from the Forest Service.

In addition to paying for and helping maintain weather stations, computer and other equipment, the Friends sponsor avalanche education and community outreach programs. Individual friends assist Center staff with field work and observations. Through a cost sharing agreement with the Forest we also help support Forest Avalanche Specialists whose expertise and dedication serve the entire community.

To keep up with our obligations we need help from the winter recreation community.

All contributions are tax deductible. Business donors will be named as Friends Underwriters on our web page and radio reports.
