Photo Contest

2013 CANYON COUNTRY PHOTO CONTEST has ended.

Good luck to all of you who entered!

We'll announce the winner by Friday, Dec. 6th by email and on Facebook.

Your photo could win if it captures the drama and beauty of the play of light, shadow or storm on southeastern Utah’s public lands (this also includes Canyons of the Ancients National Monument and the Henry Mountains). See MAP of eligible areas. Landscapes only please, no vehicles or people.

Please note that Zion, Bryce and Capitol Reef National Parks are not in the Canyon Country photo contest region, nor is the Grand Staircase-Escalante area, Glen Canyon, or the Lake Powell area. Call if you have any questions - 800-840-8978 x10.

Entry dates were from:  Oct. 30 - Nov. 30, 2013.  Photo must be color, in JPG format, with high resolution (minimum 300 dpi, maximum 600 dpi) with a maximum file size of 10MB. Lower resolution photos may be submitted, but a high resolution photo must be available upon request.

Contest Terms and Conditions

Participation
The contest is open to everyone, regardless of age, except for the following: employees of Canyonlands Natural History Association (CNHA), the National Park Service (NPS), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the USDA Forest Service (USFS), contest judges, and their immediate families. Contestants under the age of 18 must have their parent(s) or guardian(s) consent.

Photo requirements
Individual photographers, both amateur and professional, may submit a maximum of one photo. Photo must include the location in the filename.  Photos that are "over Photoshopped" or photos with unnatural colors may be disqualified. Please do not go off trail to take your picture.

Only original photographs taken by you will be accepted. CNHA reserves the right to disqualify any entry if it finds at its sole discretion that any of the contest rules have been violated. Decisions of CNHA shall be final and binding.

Judging and prizes
Photos will be judged by a panel chosen by CNHA by December 10, 2013. Winners will be notified by email. The winner will receive a $100 prize and appear in the 2016 Canyon Country Calendar (calendar goes on sale in 2015).  The runner-up will receive a copy of the book Photographing the Southwest, Vol. 1 by Laurent MartresWinning photos will be displayed on the CNHA website, e-newsletter and Facebook page.

Terms of Use
By uploading a photo for the contest, you grant CNHA the rights to future use of the image including, but not limited to, the CNHA web site, e-newsletter and Facebook page. Should CNHA wish to use any photograph in a printed publication, terms for use will be negotiated at that time.
